It had been just over a week since Warren Zackey was eliminated in 22nd position from the World Series of Poker and already local players are clamouring for a seat at the upcoming All Africa Poker Tournament, in a bid to test their skills against him. Zackey, who left Las Vegas after six days of exceptional poker playing and winnings of US$352,832, will now be competing in the R3,5 million All Africa Poker Tournament (AAPT). Held at Piggs Peak Hotel and Casino, Swaziland from 20 – 23 August 2009, this Tournament promises to be quite a poker show with an exceptional line up of some of Southern Africa’s best players already claiming their seat. Amongst these are three of SA’s top 10 ranked players Ray Rahme, Darren Kramer and Ryan Brauer as well as past AAPT champion Peter Vermaas. Other notables include Jay Sookoo and Kinesh Pather. All Africa Poker’s Perfect Pair Danny K and Lee Ann Leibenberg will also be there. The final table will be played in Piggs Peak Casino’s state of the art broadcast poker studio and recorded live for broadcast on DSTV’s All Africa Poker Channel and The Poker Zone on e.tv. The All Africa Poker Tournament has a R25,000 Buy-in, (R20,000 going to the prize pool and R5,000 for accommodation/food and beverage package) which includes one Main Event AAPT seat, a starting chip stack of 5,000, three nights’ accommodation at Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino for the player and one partner, and all meals and drinks in the poker room.
